Yaraghi said Thompson will relocate to the company's Port Washington, New York headquarters, and will be responsible for growing the area rug sales team to meet projected growth and expansion. "We are pleased to have someone with John's credentials and retail following on board; his mission is to steward our company as we expand and reach out to a broader market of lifestyle customers," Yaraghi said.
"Safavieh is an exceptional company that is poised for major growth and industry leadership," Thompson added. "It is one of the few companies in our industry that has chosen to remain loyal to and is building momentum in 'value priced' programmed hand-knotted products while strengthening its hand tufted and machine made line up.
"Our immediate objective is to add to Savavieh's outstanding sales force with strategic hires in territories that are presently underdeveloped," Thompson said. "Our goal is to double sales in four years, and the company is quite capable of doing that.
"I have been extremely impressed by management's commitment to making Safavieh more of a customer-focused and customer-driven business. Not only are stocking inventory positions on the rise but we plan on substantially increasing the customer service department in an effort to improve our level of customer satisfaction.
"There is a lot of apparent value in the Safavieh line," he explained. "With broad lifestyle categories spanning logical price points and construction platforms we are quickly becoming more important to our retailers. As we head into 2007, planned dealer support strategies and materials will further enhance our position," Thompson explained.
