| December 21, 2005: | Safavieh enters licensing arena with Thomas O'Brien Collection
|
 | The January debut of Safavieh's new Thomas O'Brien collection will mark the company's first collaboration with a licensed designer.
The collection is a group of 11 designs in a total of 29 colorways. The rugs are hand knotted in Nepal in a blend of handspun Tibetan wool and silk. The patterns includes a range of cut and uncut pile textures. Suggested retail price for 6x9 is $1,850.
For Safavieh, the Thomas O’Brien launch represents the kick-off of a new division of designer carpets, according to Arash Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal.

 | Safavieh has just completed the remodeling of its 10,000 square foot showroom at 153 Madison Avenue, home of the company’s wholesale rug business since the late 1970s.
In an effort to offer both rug and furniture retailers the opportunity to expand into multiple home furnishings categories and increase add-on sales, Safavieh has expanded the showroom’s product mix to include imported furniture and accent pieces that will be merchandised along with its rugs.

 | Safavieh, a leading manufacturer and importer of decorative and Oriental rugs, has hired Richard Miller as director of sales for the company’s newly launched Wholesale Furniture Division.
Miller comes to Safavieh with comprehensive retail and wholesale furniture experience. He helped launch and was manager of Bloomingdale’s Furniture Gallery in Garden City, New York – the only freestanding Bloomingdale’s furniture store in the country. With 55,000 square feet of selling space, the store successfully cross-merchandised furniture and rugs, an approach which will be the focus of Miller’s strategy at Safavieh. |

 | The June 2003 issue of Architectural Digest has an article on the Inn At Price Tower, a new boutique hotel in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The building was originally conceived by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1956 as headquarters for the H.C. Price Company, and it is the only skyscraper that the famous architect ever designed.
Safavieh was commissioned to create rugs for the entire hotel.
